I bought this because I passed on the bloodborne guide and I regretted it (it came with a unique PS4 theme, and was partly created by souls community veterans who knew what they were talking about)HOWEVER this guide is pretty bad to be honest; the format is poor, the index doesn't tell you where things are in the guide (guide starts page 42, the next thing listed in the index is 242.....so what if I'm looking for a particular area within the 200 page guide? isn't that what the index is for?!)not only that, but it passes over a lot of details, made me outright fail an NPC quest by not telling me I had to do something before beating a certain boss (it tells you this AFTER the section in the guide about the boss, what good is that?! by that point it's already too late)there are numerous spelling errors (anor lando....), it actually misses items and npc's on the maps they providefrankly, I wish I'd saved my money and just used the free wiki, this guide is NOT worth the money at all

By Amazon Customer
I've bought and own all the guides since Dark Souls 1 - mostly for collection and artwork's sake - and I'm very disappointed with this Prima guide. The Future Press guides, especially Bloodborne was outstanding and even to this day has a lot of information that isn't present in the wiki's such specific frame animation analysis of each weapon presented in a coherent tabled format. The Bloodborne guide was 533 pages whereas the Dark Souls 3 Prima guide is 400 pages. While that isn't all indicative of the quality of the guide, the disparity is puzzling considering bloodborne's distinct lack of weapons and attire compared the Dark Souls 3.The format of guide is also quite rough, with the table of contents for the walkthrough being almost useless. The egregious example being that the walkthrough section "From bonfire to bonfire: A path through lothric and beyond" is labelled page 42 and the next section "multiplayer and covenants" is labelled page 224. you mean to say I have to parse through all that to find a particular area? This problem is further compounded by the distinct lack of an index, which the bloodborne guides had. There's also no separate boss section and the tips given are just general advice like keep your shield up and attack relentlessly. There's no detailed movesets or stat information of the bosses like in the bloodborne guide and to even find out the HP of bosses you have to turn to the bestiary, which is broken down by area type, and contains an excel style table with the boss randomly stuck in the middle of a particular area's enemies. Outside of it's name and higher health, there's nothing to actually differentiate it as the boss (which is confusing for a certain early area that also contains a late game boss).Instead of being explained in the bestiary, bosses are detailed in the walkthrough section, with their own half-page column, but where the bestiary doesn't explain strategy, this section fails to show detailed information like Health, Resistances or Weaknesses, you have to flip back to the bestiary and find the boss for that. Furthermore, the "advice" given is really plain, such as: "Between half- and one-third-health, Iudex Gundyr stops in place and begins to change. Attack relentlessly when he does this, as he becomes much nastier after the transition. Try to kill him before he's able to react." It's not bad advice, it's just obvious, killing boss faster = easier! meanwhile there's no mention of the fact that he can be parried or any mention of alternate approaches for a spellcasters for instance. The weapon section just continues with the downward trend as it doesn't even show upgraded values for weapons just the base. The bloodborne weapon section was vital as an easy reference point when planning builds whereas this one is just as a checklist to see if you got every weapon (although it would't surprise if they missed a few but I truly hope not). While maps are good as a reference, I've come across areas in which items are not labelled, which is worrying.Lastly, moving on the book itself. Nice hardcover with brilliant artwork on the front and back but the some of the images and artwork inside are distinctly low-res. Granted that particular problem is few and far between. While this is a minor problem, the artwork is one of the major reasons I even buy the guides as I know the info will eventually become outdated as balance patches come through. A problem (which may just be my copy?) is that the pages seem warped.Overall, not impressed with it when compared to Bloodborne's guide. I bought the collectors edition for collecting but I expected a bit more.TLDR:-Short (400 pages vs Bloodborne's 533)-Less specific statistical information on bosses and enemies.-No boss section/jumbled Bestiary. Lack of consolidated information on bosses.-No drop rates, only potential drops.-Boss strategies are basic, doesn't seem to offer approaches for differing styles of gameplay (eg: magic).-Limited information on weapons, nothing more than what you see in game.-No weapon moveset/frame analysis information.-Lacks weapon infusion/reinforcement information, even for basic upgrade paths.-No index and table of contents could be organised better.-Comprehensive maps are included but missing some items that can be picked up.-Artwork consists of mostly in-game screenshots with some being grainy and low res, though there are a few nice shots.-Warped pages, though this may just be a unique to my circumstance.-Glad I didn't get the estus flask edition.
